Semester is starting for uni so I really need to get this pc usable, so the harder parts of the build will be delayed such as wiring, mobo tray, covers. Sorry about the delay, been sorting out uni, work and a few other things. Moving my system from the Nanxoia Deep Silence 1 somewhat failed first pc case mod (which I will still finish) I will also be doing some sound insulation/optimization of the case (might be a waste of time with the stock fans haha) I would also want to incorporate some of the fans and the G5 cpu heatsink panel somewhere but I will see how I go Along with the HDD fans and mobo rear blower and rear fans (forgot to include in picture sorry). The psu enclosure, hdd rack and top divider will all be kept. Plus include a lot of quality fabrication for an excellent end result that does not look modified at all from the outside at first glance.
However I'm aiming to retain as much of the original G5 stuff as possible. I got this idea from other G5 builds and is not my own. Did a tear down of the internals, these things are so well built and thought out!īasic plan is to mount the mobo in portrait with the IO at the top rear and run extensions for the various ports that I want to the rear and front of the case. Was able to buy a mint case last night and got my hands on it today and after playing around with a ruler and spacing, here is my plan and work so far:Ģ: Remove powermac and old PSU internals (5/2/15)ģ: Test fit motherboard, water cooling components, hdds and empty power supply housing (6/2/15)Ĥ: Test fit ATX PSU components into PSU housing (6/2/15)ĥ: Mount PSU internals into housing and test (7/2/15)ħa: mount mobo to temporary mobo tray (1/3/15)ħb: test fit and run system on air.(1/3/15)Ĩ: Make an adapter plate to mount mobo to case while hiding wiringġ2: make new rear i/o in place of PCIe slots.ġ3: Find a solution to tidily blank unused front and rear i/o portsĢ1: Paint interior to achieve maximum stealthiness
